About Men's Hair Health

Who we are, how we compare products, and how we make money.

Men's Hair Health is a small independent publication about hair loss in men. We write about what is actually in the products men are sold, what those products cost over a realistic timeframe, and whether there is published research behind them.

We started it for a simple reason. Hair loss is one of the most common things men deal with and one of the worst served by the information available about it. Search for a solution and you get contradictory forum threads, a wall of ads, and dozens of products promising the same outcome without naming what is inside them or at what dose. We wanted somewhere that just listed the ingredients and the prices side by side.

How we compare products

Every product in a comparison is assessed against the same four questions, and we publish the answer to each one.

What is the active ingredient, and is it named on the label? Proprietary blends that hide individual doses behind a trademark are marked down. If you cannot see what you are buying, you cannot judge it.

What does it cost over 90 days? Follicles cycle slowly, so 90 days is the shortest honest test in this category. Pricing comes from the seller's own published prices and we link the source.

Is there published human research, or only a mechanism? We separate ingredients with human trials behind them from ingredients that only have a theory. We also check that any statistic a brand quotes was actually run on the ingredient that brand uses, which is not always the case.

Does the brand tell you its own weaknesses? A brand that publishes the limits of its own evidence is telling you something useful about how it treats you.

What we will not do

We do not invent testimonials, publish before and after photographs, or present research conducted on an isolated ingredient as though it were a trial of a finished product. Where the evidence for something is thin, we say so in the article rather than leaving it out.

We are not doctors and nothing we publish is medical advice. Hair loss that is sudden or patchy is worth taking to a GP or dermatologist rather than to a shopping comparison.

How we make money

Some of our articles are advertorials, which means a brand has paid for the placement or we earn a commission when a reader buys through a link. Where that is the case we label it at the top of the article and again in the footer, every time, without exception.

We currently have a commercial relationship with Halden, a drug-free peptide hair serum, and this is disclosed on every page where the brand appears. You should read our comparisons with that in mind. The criteria above are applied to every product equally and the underlying ingredient lists, published research and prices are all linked so you can check the working yourself rather than taking our word for it.

We think a labelled commercial relationship and visible sources is a more honest arrangement than an unlabelled one, but it is your call how much weight to give what we publish.

Corrections

If we get something wrong we fix it in the article rather than quietly deleting it. If you spot a factual error in an ingredient list, a price or a citation, tell us and we will check it against the source and correct it.
